Alanya Kalesi hakkında kısa bilgi İngilizce şu şekilde verilebilir: Alanya Castle (Alanya Kalesi) is a medieval castle in the southern Turkish city of Alanya. Most of the castle was built in the 13th century under the Seljuq Sultanate of Rûm following the city's conquest in 1220 by Alaeddin Keykubad I. The wall which surrounds the castle is 6.5 kilometres long and includes 140 towers. Today the building is an open-air museum. The history of its establishment and by whom it was founded is unknown, but the geographer Scylax from the 4th century BC mentioned Alanya as Coracesium at first. In 65 BC, the pirate dominance ended with the Coracesium war, which resulted in the victory of the Roman Pompeius. In Byzantine times, Alanya Castle became a locating point for sailors and the busiest port of the Mediterranean. In 2009, city officials filed to include Alanya Castle and Tersane as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and they were named to the 2009 Tentative List.
